MOLTOX Molecular Toxicology Inc Minimal Glucose Agar (MGA), 30 mL/plate, 500 plates/case, Store at Room Temperature
Our Minimal Glucose Agars are specifically formulated for use in bacterial mutagenicity assays. Along with the standard formulation as described by Maron & Ames, Mutat. Res. 113:173, 1983, MOLTOX offers various other formulations such as histidine and biotin supplemented bottom agar. Our MGA""s are offered in case quantities or individual sleeves. MOLTOX provides all products necessary to conduct the Salmonella, E. coli, MOLTOX FT™, µAmes and UMU Mutagenicity Assays. All products are formulated and manufactured using the highest quality components and are consistent with the recommendations set forth by the historical literature corresponding to each test type. Certain Ames materials (e.g. STDiscs™ and Lyophilized S9) have been specifically developed in our laboratory for these assays. All products are thoroughly tested for performance in the assay and are accompanied by Quality Control and Formulation statements.

R2A Agar is recommended for use in the enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in drinking or tap water. This type of bacteria is slow growing and would normally be overrun by the more fast growing bacteria.Each lot of media from MOLTOX is tested for sterility, where applicable, and its ability to support the growth of the appropriate microorganism. MOLTOX Molecular Toxicology Inc Tryptic Soy Agar, 150mm Plate, 75 mL/plate, 10 plates/sleeve, Store at Room Temperature
Also known as TSA or Trypticase Soy Agar, Tryptic Soy Agar is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious and nonfastidious microorganisms. This medium can be used for a wide variety of purposes including maintenance of stock cultures, plate counts and microorganism isolation of a range of specimens. It is also used for testing bacterial contaminants in cosmetics. The addition of blood can be used for the visualization of hemolytic reactions produced by various bacterial species. The addition of Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) and/or Lecithin, is used for environmental monitoring as they inactivate disinfectant residue. Whether you need a general-purpose, nonselective media or you need added blood to facilitate a more fasitdious bacterial lawn for the detection of hemolytic reactions, we have several products to choose from. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.

Nutrient Agar is a general purpose medium for the cultivation and maintenance of nonfastidious organisms. It can be used for the cultivation and enumeration of organisms in water, sewage, feces and other materials. Nutrient agars prepared with Oxoid Nutrient Broth No. 2, specified by Maron & Ames, Mutat. Res. 113: 173, 1983, are used for general growth and CFU determinations of Ames S. typhimurium and E. coli WP2 strains. We provide specifically formulated Nutrient agars and broths for Ames assay applications as well as for general use. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.

LB Agar, Miller, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and propagating E. coli. LB Agar, Miller contains twice the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Lennox formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Miller plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance. Used as an industry standard for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli and for the preparation of plasmid DNA, MOLTOX offers a large selection of LB Agars and Broths with plenty of added antibiotics to choose from for a more selective media. Bismuth Sulfite Agar is a highly selective medium used for the isolation of Salmonella species, particularly Salmonella typhi in various types of samples including food, water and sewage. This product is not autoclaved in order to maintain its selective properties. This product is also light sensitive and must be protected from light. Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract (BCYE) Agar is a selective, non-differential medium for the isolation, cultivation, presumptive identification, and maintenance of Legionella species. L-cysteine HCl is a growth, ferric pyrophosphate and alpha-ketoglutarate provide distinctive nutritional requirements of Legionella species. Activated charcoal decomposes hydrogen peroxide, which is a toxic metabolic biproduct, while also collecting CO2 and modifying surface tension of the media. (Wallerstein Laboratory) WL Nutrient (WLN) Agar is a selective and non-differential medium used for the cultivation of yeasts, molds, and bacteria encountered in brewing and industrial fermentation processes. WLN was developed by Green and Gray while studying various fermentation processes. An exhaustive study examining methods of fermentation control procedures in worts, beers, liquid yeasts, and similar fermentation products led to the development of WL Nutrient Medium. At a pH of 5.5, counts of viable baker’s yeast will grow. Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB), also known as Soybean-Casein Digest (SCD) Medium, is a general nutrient and enrichment broth. TSB is recommended for use as the inoculum broth for disc diffusion and agar dilution antimicrobial susceptibility testing by the CLSI.
